Alterations of myosin isoenzymes and ADP/ATP carrier in Goldblatt hypertensive rats (part 6)

Figure 2 shows that the AAC content ratio (the ratio of AAC:total mitochondrial membrane proteins) in Goldblatt rats was significantly decreased, from 11.8±0.5 to 10.0±0.4 (% mitochondrial protein), compared with that of control rats (P<0.05). Figure 3 shows the results of PGE (3 a) and densitometry (3b) obtained from extracts of the left ventricular myosin isoenzyme in control and Gold-blatt rats. Figure 3a shows the myosin isoenzyme components V1, V2 and V3, in decreasing order of electrophoretic mobility, determined by PGE. Figure 3b shows the profiles of PGE gel densitometry in control and Goldblatt rats. In the hypertrophied myocardium of Goldblatt rats, the predominant myosin isoenzyme pattern was shifted toward V3; ie, a 2.6 times lower concentration of V1, and 8.0 and 15.1 times higher concentrations of V2 and V3 were observed in Gold-blatt rats than in control rats (P<0.01, Figure 3).Serum creatine kinase levels were 911.2±169.5 and 886.7±40.0 mU/mL, and aldolase levels were 64.4±6.3 and 56.1±3.2 mU/mL in control and Goldblatt rats, respectively. There were no significant differences in serum creatine kinase or aldolase between Goldblatt and control rats. There was no statistically significant relationship between the AAC content ratio and the three myosin isoenzyme concentrations, as shown in Figures 2 and 3.
